Exporting Data from Schoolhouse Test

If you need to use the question data from a Schoolhouse Test document in another test program or LMS (Learning Management System), one of the delimited text export options may suit your needs. Open the saved Schoolhouse Test document (.tst), and then in Design View select Export Questions on the command ribbon to display the available options.

NOTE: Text delimited files do not allow for the export of pictures or formatting (i.e. bold, superscript).

• Delimited Text File - This tab delimited text file can be opened by most spreadsheet applications (i.e. MS Excel) and may be suitable for LMS services that accept delimited text imports (i.e. Blackboard). Multiple choice, true false, fill-in-the-blanks, long answer/essay, short answer, order, matching and multiple answer (checklist & statement) are supported. • Standard Format Text File - The export to a standard format text file can be opened in any text editor (i.e NotePad, WordPad) and is formatted to import into Respondus. Multiple choice, true false, fill-in-the-blanks, long answer/essay, short answer, order, matching and multiple answer (checklist & statement) are supported. • GIFT Format Text File - Use this export option to create a GIFT (General Import Format Technology) delimited text file compatible with import to Moodle and Adobe Captivate. GIFT supports these question types: multiple choice, both checklist and statements as multiple choice, true false, fill-in-the-blank with only one blank, matching, short answer, and essay/long answer. IMPORTANT: These control characters... ~ = # {} : ... cannot be used as normal text within questions unless preceded with a backslash. • Aiken Format Text File - The Aiken format delimited text file export can be imported to Moodle. • Aiken Format Text File Modified - The Modified Aiken format delimited text file export is identical to the regular Aiken format text file except the correct answers are identified with asterisks. Modified Aiken also supports only multiple choice and true false questions.
